Writing what I see

As a writer
I must see with my inner eyes
what the average person
does not see—
and then present it in such a way
that he does see.
As a writer—
I must put myself
into the inner mind
of the other person—
See as he sees, feel what he feels
with all senses active.
And then turn around and put those
feelings and emotions
into black and white ink
So those who don’t empathize
will be struck
by what they have read
and will learn to care.
I must see what you do not see—
then enable you to see with me.
