Nancy, I just finished reading your story and found myself dwelling not only on the story but my slient "wow" as a response. I love your resolution and would like to offer my assistance. I'm in the process of writing a book tenatively titled " The Answer is Yes, But First You Have to Ask." May I have permission to use your story in my book and can we talk?

Susan Boyle is an incredibly talented lady who's been subjected to considerable pressure in the media. IMHO she deserves all of the success that she is experiencing.

Nancy - already your princess is considering what first place in your writing world she might have. When my grandkids were around my knees they loved stories where they could give me the first line. Telling them a story that way often left me thinking, "That wasn't bad." So I'd continue with the same story the next night. Then one night, I taped an episode and I was sold. From that, I started to write Grammie Books and the kids got one each year in their Christmas stocking from that time on. So keep on keeping on, Who knows how this little princess might attract the spotlight in your life - in real life and the world of fantasy.

The ability to ask for help is most definitely a muscle worth strengthening. I think you've set yourself a worthy goal!

I am doing a lot of caregiving for a 90-year-old who cannot ask for help and she's gotten herself into some life-threatening situations that were totally avoidable. She simply could not overcome the barrier of SHAME that's attached to asking for assistance. As the commenter above said, it's a pride thing and the roots can go deep.

Thanks for pointing out much others get out of being able to help. We are designed for community and keep trying to resist it.
